Is tanning safe?
Tanning is natural. It is your skin's defense against burning. Without sunlight we would not survive. You need to do it in moderation like anything else. Indoor tanning is safer than outdoors because it is regulated. Basically, alot of things in life are good for you, it's when people go out of the realm of moderation & abuse it, that it could be bad for you. A couple of examples for you: Water... you need that to live, but if you consume too much of it, you can die from water intoxication. Food...another important thing we do to live, but consume too much of it, especially if it is "junk" food, you can die from a heart attack, become obese or have other complications.
You should have a skin tone change after the first few sessions. You should have a good base tan in 8-10 sessions, then 2-3 sessions a week should maintain your tan. "The Convex" is a different answer to this question. Check it out on Our Beds page.
The tanning process actually continues for a period of time after an indoor tanning session. If you take a shower, you will remove the mantel acid from your skin and slow down or stop this continued tanning process. It is recommended that you wait 2 hours after and 1 hour before a tanning session. You will also stop any delayed bronzing tanning lotions to prematurely stop developing further.
You tan occurs on the outer layers of your skin, the epidermal layers. Those skin cells gradually die and are replaced with the next layer (untaned skin) every 28-30 days.
Absolutely! Yes! Rarotonga Tanning Paradise requires ALL tanners wear FDA approved eyewear. The skin around your eyes is the thinnest skin on your body & UV light can easily penetrate thru and reach your eyes.
What's the worst that can happen? Not using the correct FDA approved eyewear can result in both temporary and long-term damage, bad night vision, loss of color perception, Mascular degeneration (blindness in all but peripheral vision, cataracts and/or pterygium (a tissue buildup casued by frequent aggravation of the outer eye tissues).
*At Rarotonga we provide complimentary eyewear along with eyewear to purchase. We accept no excuses.
There are many things that can contribute to this, including what you put on your skin, a fragrance you may be wearing or even something you ate. Then when used with UV light, it is giving you a photosensitive type of a reaction.
1. If you are using a "tingle" lotion because, it stimulates the skin & brings blood closer to the surface.
2. You could be photosensitive to the UV light.
3. You could be allergic to a chemical in your lotion.
4. You could be on a medication that has a reaction with UV light or sunlight. Birth control included.
5. You could have a reaction to the acrylic or sanitizing agents.
